ABOUT US
SHARING THE DNA OF OUR MEXICAN CULTURE IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO.
The world of LA CALAVERA floats between meaningful stories, heritage traditions, symbolism, life and death, pop art, and a bit of kitsch. This is why our collections are not simply something to possess; they are something to live and be inspired by.
An object that finds its way into our collection is unique. Whether it's made embracing fairly traded practices or whether it tells an amazing story, we sell it because we appreciate its craftsmanship, celebrate its quality, and the idea of it makes us happy!
OUR STORY
LA CALAVERA IS PROUDLY 100% MEXICAN.
LA CALAVERA began in 2014 when Celia and Darren, an Australian couple, discovered their love for "Day of the Dead" art during a trip to Texas. They were so taken by its beauty that they decided to share it with Australia, opening a shop in Melbourne.
In 2020, LA CALAVERA came under Mexican ownership. Deni, a Mexican architect with a love for design and handcrafts, took leadership. With over a decade of experience collaborating with artisans, she relaunched the brand with a new mission: to showcase authentic Mexican culture and empower local communities. Thanks to her high-end design background, she carefully curates our collections, delivering Mexico's best to you.
Our collections are entirely hand-made in Mexico. To be part of our team you must love tacos and tequila!
